Meanwhile on Roblox, Scary Shawarma Kiosk: the ANOMALY launched (August 25, 2025) and proved the formula works as a night-shift job sim — eventually crossing a billion plays.
• 2025 film deal. The Exit 8 got a live-action adaptation (directed by Genki Kawamura, starring Kazunari Ninomiya) that hit festivals in 2025 and US theaters via Neon in April 2026 — the genre's first mainstream crossover.
• December 2025 — Roblox anomaly trend confirmed. Shawarma Kiosk and fellow anomaly title Terminal 13: Not Human appeared in year-end Roblox trend roundups.

• Mid-to-late July 2026 — the TikTok wave. Home Alone explodes on TikTok, climbing to ~27K CCU and 54.8M visits; Animal Hospital follows it into the platform's top tier. Anomaly horror becomes Roblox's defining 2026 genre.
